Disney enthusiasts everywhere have been longing to immerse themselves in the world of Ariel ever since the awe-inspiring trailer for the live action version of The Little Mermaid made its debut. This beloved fairytale whisks viewers away into a beautiful underwater kingdom ruled by King Triton and his golden trident. While Oscar night is always an exciting occasion, this year Disney fans were giddy with enthusiasm as they felt like they had patiently been waiting years for a glimpse of Atlantica!

Of all her siblings, Ariel is the most eager to explore beyond the depths of what she knows. The new trailer hints at how well she’s coping with this uncharted terrain… until a game-changing event alters her course forever. Suddenly, nothing can keep her from craving more adventures in unfamiliar territories.

At the Oscars, Melissa McCarthy and Halle Bailey enchanted viewers as they graced the stage in radiant gowns. Ready to share their excitement for this reinvisioned classic story of Ariel, the two women brought anticipation of a captivatingly darker take on Hans Christian Anderson’s original short story. In spite of its intensity, ‘The Little Mermaid’ will undoubtedly be full of joy and enchantment as Ariel strives to make her biggest dreams come true no matter what obstacles she may face along the way.

Hearts are about to be melted by the enchanting Halle Bailey’s portrayal of Ariel in the upcoming live-action remake, featuring an A-list cast including Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Jonah Hauer-King playing Prince Eric. Everyone’s favorite land and sea creatures will also come alive with performances from Daveed Diggs, Jacob Tremblay, and Awkwafina. Truly a star studded line up!

Melissa McCarthy’s forthcoming portrayal of Ursula, the iconic villainous sea witch from Ariel’s story, is one of the most highly-anticipated performances in Disney’s upcoming film. She must tempt and challenge Ariel with an offer no mermaid can refuse – a chance to become human. But as we all know, this comes with a hefty price tag. Given her extraordinary comedic talent highlighted by films such as Bridesmaids, The Heat, and Identity Thief , it stands to reason that she will give us plenty of laughs when playing Ursula!

Prior to the release of The Little Mermaid, director Rob Marshall spoke highly of Bailey’s vocal talent in an interview with Variety. He was astounded when he heard her rendition of Ariel’s renowned song for the first time.

“When she finished, I was in tears because she’s so soulful. You could tell right away that she was able to harness Ariel’s passion, her fire, her soul, her joy and her heart.”

Step into an enchanting world on May 26th as Disney’s The Little Mermaid brings the magical underwater journey of Ariel to life!
