‘Despacito’ Dethrones ‘See You Again’ as YouTube’s Most-Watched Video

The internet has just recently crowned a new king of YouTube.  Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s music video for their newest hit song has crushed the competition and set two new records last week.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, chances are you’ve heard the song Despacito on the radio featuring Justin Bieber.  The song has been number 1 on the charts in the US for the past 12 weeks and has pretty much set up shop as the song of the summer.  The record-breaking video, however, is for the original track, not featuring the Beibs.  Check it out.  Click here to watch the video:

The video has dethroned Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s See You Again for the most-viewed video on the internet surpassing 3 billion views on YouTube.  In addition to becoming the most-watched video on YouTube, it’s also the first to hit that milestone of 3 billion views!

The video was directed by Carlos Perez and shot in San Juan, Puerto Rico in December 2016.  It’s the first primarily Spanish song to reach number one on the Billboard charts since 1996’s Macarena by Los Del Rios.

It’s not all fun and games though as the video also holds the 10th place for the least-liked video of all time on YouTube.  You take the good with the bad, we guess!  Either way, we think the song is super catchy and we love it!

What do you think of Despacito taking over the top spot as YouTube’s most-watched video?  Do you prefer the version with or without Justin Bieber?  Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
