Dean Cain Wants to Make a 5th Season of ‘Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman’

Look up in the sky! It’s a bird. It’s a plane. Or, could it be a 5th and final wrap up season of the 90s series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman? If series star Dean Cain gets his way, that just might happen.

The successful series ran for four seasons from 1993 to 1997 when it was cancelled even though there had originally been plans for a 5th season.  After being moved to a new time slot, ratings for the series decreased-ultimately causing ABC to make the decision to cancel the series.

Now, 20 years after the show went off the air, Dean Cain says he’s still willing to give fans that 5th season, if for no other reason than to just close out the series. In fact, Cain is more than willing, he’s pretty much campaigning for a revival. In the below interview from 7 News Sydney, Cain asks for 10 episodes, six episodes or even just a two-hour movie event to catch up with the characters. Cain says:

“We ended our show after four seasons in a weird way because we’re supposed to do a fifth season.  We ended our show after four seasons in a weird way because we’re supposed to do a fifth season.  Teri [Hatcher] got pregnant in between and couldn’t work on that fifth season, so they decided to shut it down. I would have liked to have done that fifth season – I think we still need a fifth season – so I’m hoping that we get a chance to maybe finish up the series.”

This is the dream of any fan who has experienced a mid-series cancellation.  That final chance to wrap up loose ends to story lines and to see what happens with your favorite characters.  A sense of closure is HUGE in the fandom world when a beloved series comes to an end.  Lois & Clark fans never got that.  In addition to the closure aspect, Cain also thinks it would be fun to see what these characters have been up to for all this time:

“I think it would be really interesting to catch up with these two characters 20 years down the line and see what’s happened in their lives, if they have had children or what’s going on with their kids… I think it’s really interesting and I’m certainly willing to [do it].”

Even though his days as Superman ended 20 years ago, Cain is still a part of the Superman universe.  He has appeared in episodes of the CW’s Supergirl as Kara Danvers (aka. Supergirl) adopted father Jeremiah Danvers.

In real life, Cain and Hatcher just recently reunited as they were both guests at a comic convention.  Hatcher posted a “super” awesome photo to her Instagram with the caption: “Soaring together again. So fun to reunite. Thanks to #bridgeclimbsydney #loisandclark #deancain.”  You can check out her Instagram post below.  Hatcher has actually also made a guest appearance on Supergirl as well.

So, what do you all think?  Do you think there should be a Lois & Clark revival season?  Sound off in the comment section below!
