‘Deadpool’: No Helicarrier in Film

A few weeks ago an artist said that the concept art in the last scene was in fact the helicarrier. The director, Tim Miller, just called it a ship, but clarified that it wasn’t the Helicarrier to Collider.

“No, it’s clearly not the Helicarrier. I just want to say for the record, there’s a lot of groups in the Marvel universe who use flying combat platforms. It’s not just the Helicarrier. A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics) has some. It could have been anything but a S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. Because that would be outside of the purview of the Fox/Marvel arrangement. I really just wanted to hint at a larger connection to the rest of the Marvel universe.”

Here is the rest of the interview with Collider.

This makes me wonder though. He wanted Deadpool to be his own universe, and that clearly worked. That’s why we didn’t see any endings from the other Marvel movies to come. Could this be a beginning of a new storyline/universe in Marvel? We will know in time!

Deadpool is now out in theatre. Have you seen it yet?
