DC Orders 13 Episode Superman Prequel Series ‘Metropolis’
DC has ordered a live-action Superman prequel series which will go straight to series on its brand new digital streaming service, Variety reported Tuesday.The series titles ‘Metropolis’ will be produced by Warner Brothers Television and DC Entertainment. It will be a 13 episode series set there before Superman’s arrival. It will mainly follow Lois Lane and Lex Luthor while they try to bring the dark city’s secrets to life.
Metropolis is set to start production this year and premiere on the streaming service in 2019.
In its early stages, the project was originally going to air on FOX where Gotham, a similar series idea set in Gotham City before Batman, currently airs with a large cult following.
Danny Cannon and John Stephens, both who currently write and produce Gotham, will write and produce Metropolis. Stephens will be showrunner as well.
Warner Brothers is still working on its other Superman prequel titled Krypton.
DC’s digital service will also include shows Titans, and animated Harley Quinn and Young Justice: Outsiders.
