Actor/Comedian Dave Chappelle is confirmed to have joined the cast of the remake of A Star is Born. Other cast members include Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga.
The Hollywood Reporter was the first to break the news regarding Chappelle’s casting on Friday.
The film will be Cooper’s directorial debut and is currently in production. Recent filming locations in Coachella, CA, invited fans to be extras.
This will make it the films 4th reboot. It is based on William Wellman’s 1937 film and remade in 1954 starring Judy Garland and then in 1976 Starring Barbara Streisand. The newest version follows the life of the declining career of a country music singer (Cooper) who becomes romantically involved with an unknown singer (Gaga) whom he helps and mentors to stardom.
Chappelle will portray the character of Noodles and is Cooper’s oldest friend. The 2 characters start out playing in blues clubs.
Chappelle’s most recent works have been appearing in Spike Lee’s Chiraq, Hosting Saturday Night Live and has 2 stand-up comedy specials released on Netflix.
A Star is Born is set to be released in theaters September 28, 2018.
