March is Women’s History Month and celebrities are using their platforms to celebrate. Everything from simply sharing a motivational quote or being a cheerleader for their fellow women to starting organizations and becoming a part of ‘something bigger’, it seems like now is a better time than ever before to get involved.
Many of our favorite women here at Fan Fest are ones who use their platform for good. Their talent on screen is wonderful but what their heart moves forward for is even more important. One of those women is Danai Gurira.
In an Instagram post, Danai gave a platform to the incredible men in her life that celebrate women. She related back to Emma Watson’s push for the #HeForShe movement and how necessary it is for everyone to fight for the rights of women. Not just women alone.

The struggle for gender equality cannot succeed without the participation of men. This #WomensHistoryMonth I wanted to give the floor to men who wished to share who their favorite women in history are, and why. Let’s celebrate some of the women whose powerful legacies have affected the lives of men across the globe, and across time. Read more in our March #LoveOurGirls newsletter which is now live. Link is in the bio.
In her post, she highlights Chris Evans and Andre Holland and the quotes they gave about women who inspired them. She wants to bring focus to the way that the lives of these brilliant and brave women have touched the lives of men, too.
When you go to the webpage for the Love Our Girls newsletter, you see many great men who have stepped up to thank women for everything from refusing limits to demanding to be treated like a person.
What you may not know is that Danai created this newsletter as a way to dedicate her birthday, February 14th, to loving and supporting women across the world.
You can sign up for the Love Our Girls newsletter by following this link. We think you’ll find some inspiration there. We know that we did.
