When you think of Beauty and the Beast and what scenes the actors and actresses may have been excited to recreate; you probably think of the big ones. The fight scene, the scene where the Beast transforms into the prince, the scene where Belle saves her father from the castle…there are a number of monumental scenes in the film.
One scene you may not think of right off the bat is actually the scene Dan Stevens, who played the Beast, was the most excited to recreate when he took on the role in Beauty and the Beast.
‘My favorite set to recreate was the library — I was excited to get to step into the real Beast’s library.‘

However, when you think about it, it is one of the most beautiful scenes in the entire film, and it weighs a lot heavier this time than in the animated version. The pair bonded over their love for literature more in this film; from the conversation in the library where Belle realizes that the Beast told her his first joke – we giggled – to the moment in the garden where he’s reading a romance story, and many scenes in between, the library was a key to the film before – but even more so now.
Not only was it important to the story, it’s a stunning location. The library is simply gorgeous and we’re massive fans of literature here, so we can appreciate a beautiful library. We’re even a bit jealous that we’ve never been in something quite that impressive, and we don’t blame Dan for a second for saying that’s his favorite scene to recreate.
He also answered some other questions over at EW’s Twitter account on June 12th, you can check out their timeline to see what else he liked about the film and playing the Beast.
What scenes in the live-action Beauty and the Beast were your favorite? Were you as impressed as Dan (and the lot of us) at the library? Let us know.
