According to Variety, Author Neil Gaiman has revealed that Benedict Cumberbatch will portray Satan in the Amazon series Good Omens, based on Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s book Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, originally released in 1990.
The Sherlock and Doctor Strange star will debut in episode 6 of the series and is said to be “a giant, animated Satan” that is “400 foot high”, according to Gaiman.
Additional cameos also include, Frances McDormand as the voice of God, Jack Whitehall, Michael McKean, Miranda Richardson, Jon Hamm, and Nick Offerman.
The show is set in 2018 as humanity prepare for judgement day. Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) who happens to be an angel, and Crowley (David Tennant) who is a demon, aren’t exactly enthusiastic about the end of the world after becoming quite attached to planet earth. In a bid to stop this apocalyptic event, they seek to prevent the coming of the antichrist.
