‘CTR’ Unveils its New “Spooky Grand Prix” & Major Quality of Life Updates!

It’s been about half a year since Crash Team Racing made it’s ‘Nitro-Fueled’ return; and it’s not showing any signs of slowing down yet! The spooky season is upon us and CTR is ready to scare with its spooktastic new Grand Prix! There’s loads of tricks, but also quite a few treats – and general game improvements. So let’s watch the Grand Prix News Brief – one of my favorite parts of all these seasons – and meet up afterwards discuss everything that’s being added!

Seasonal Additions & Offerings – New Game Modes, Characters & More:

As with every Grand Prix, they’ll be a host of customization rewards you can compete for and unlock. In fact, this time there’s added incentive as some items from the first Grand Prix will be returning to the Pit Stop for those who missed out on them the first time. Beyond that though, they’ll be plenty of new gear and especially racers to add to your team! This season’s featured racers are the fan-favorites Nina Cortex, Dr. N. Brio, and Komodo Moe.

Though my favorite addition for this season has to be the new challenge mode called Ghost Hunt. In this mode, you’ll occasionally unleash ghosts when driving through crates. If you can speed up and re-capture the ghosts you freed, you’ll complete challenges! It’s important to note that (1) you can only see/ capture ghosts that YOU unlocked and (2) ghosts will not impede/ block your driving in any way. It also remains to be seen if these ghosts will only appear in this season’s incredibly spooky new track, Nina’s Nightmare, or all tracks.

Game Life Updates – Driving Styles & 2x Wompa Weekends:

Beyond the Seasonal Prix add-ons, there’s also a bunch of quality of life changes that will make a big difference. For a full list, be sure to check out the Activision Blog; but let’s cover the two biggest here. For starters, racers and driving styles are no longer paired. In other words, if you LOVE Crunch, but hate how he drives, you can change that! Drivers – like Karts – can now be purely cosmetic as you decide which driving style works best for you. It’s also important to note that the names of the Driving Styles have changed to Turn (Beginner), Balanced (Intermediate A), Acceleration (Intermediate B), Speed (Advance) and Classic which uses your character’s ORIGINAL default driving style.

The other huge quality of life change lies in 2x Wumpa Weekends. This was something players have been wanting for a while, and now it looks like it’s here to stay! From Fridays 1:00PM PDT to 1:00AM PDT on Mondays, you’ll be able to earn double the amount of Wumpa Fruit. So change your tires and tune-up your engines, because now there’s more reason than ever to race! The Spooky Grand Prix is live NOW! So get racing!
