The Walking Dead’s own executive producer/director Greg Nicotero has not only taken on the task of reviving the spooky cinema classic Creepshow, created by horror icons Stephen King and George A. Romero, but he is also masterminding a macabre addition to the twisted anthology. A pro when it comes to providing gruesome entertainment, it comes as no surprise that Mr. Nicotero is at the horror helm for the Creepshow TV series and is tackling one of Mr. King’s most disturbing stories to date, Survivor Type.
“The episode will center on a man who is shipwrecked on a desert island where he reflects on his life and does the unthinkable in order to survive. Survivor Type is a short story that originally appeared in the Stephen King 1985 short story collection Skeleton Crew. It’s noteworthy for being one of the most gruesome tales King has ever put to paper…” – Source: tvweb
Crafted in creepy a comic book style, the original Creepshow (1982) brings forth fond memories of fright. The compilation of five terrifying tales was brought to life by some top-notch talent including Hal Holbrook, Adrienne Barbeau, Leslie Nielsen, Ted Danson, and E. G. Marshall, as well as King himself in his film acting debut. Casting has yet to be revealed for Creepshow’s resurrection but Greg Nicotero will undoubtedly raise the spine-chilling standard. The question is… Can you control your cravings? 😉
As we eagerly await the return of our nostalgic nightmares, a recent Instagram post by producer Stan Spry showed that production is indeed underway. The Creepshow TV series is slated to stream on Shudder later this year.
