Master story teller Stephen King has teamed up with son Owen for a novel that hits shelves September 26th, 2017. Sleeping Beauties is the intriguing tale of what might happen if women disappeared from the world of men. I feel like we’ve all wondered this from time to time; it is no surprise that the legendary Stephen King chose to take part in bringing this idea to a whole new level.
In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep; they become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place… The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease. Is Evie a medical anomaly to be studied? Or is she a demon who must be slain? Set in a small Appalachian town whose primary employer is a women’s prison, Sleeping Beauties is a wildly provocative, gloriously absorbing father/son collaboration between Stephen King and Owen King. – Source: StephenKing.com
According to Cemetery Dance Publications, the 800 page Sleeping Beauties is one of the largest novels they have ever published, rivaled only by Stephen King’s classic It. Being the very first novel to be co-written by Stephen and Owen King, it is expected that Special Limited Edition copies will be reserved in record time. While your wallet may take hit in obtaining these treasures, it will surely be a prized addition to any hard-core Stephen King fan’s collection. I certainly intend to add it to my own. Check out the Cemetery Dance Publications website to learn more about availability and pricing.
What came as an even greater surprise was learning that Stephen and son Owen will begin a 10 city tour to promote their collaboration. The tour begins in New York on September 26, 2017, the day Sleeping Beauties is released. They will then hit cities across the US, into Canada and ending October 6 in Sarasota, Florida. According to StephenKing.com, details of these appearances will be coming soon. I hope to see you in the audience!
