‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Star Michelle Yeoh in Talks for ‘Star Trek: Discovery Spinoff’
Michelle Yeoh is getting her own series.
Deadline confirmed Friday that the Star Trek: Discovery and Crazy Rich Asians star will begin working on an Emperor Georgiou series for CBS All Access.
Yeoh played Captain Philippa Georgiou on season one of Star Trek: Discovery, and her character died before the season ended. Empoeror Georgiou is her doppelganger in a mirror universe. That character will also return for season 2.
She will be involved in Starfleet’s Section 31, and the spinoff will most likely focus on her adventures there.
Yeoh is just coming off of playing Eleanor Young in the box office hit, Crazy Rich Asians.
CBS All Access is focusing on its goal to have Star Trek content pumping out year round. They have also begun working on a series focusning around Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard and an animated Star Trek comedy series written by Rick and Morty‘s Mike McMahan.
Star Trek: Discovery, starring Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Shazad Latif, Mary Wiseman, Wilson Cruz, Mary Chieffo, Anson Mount, Ethan Peck and Michelle Yeoh returns Thursday, January 17th, 2019 on CBS All Access.
