It’s hard to believe there was a time when Courteney Cox felt unimportant in the world of acting, given her illustrious profession. The actress recently stated that she found herself in an acting rut and felt unwelcome in Hollywood.
In a conversation with Variety, after some time, the renowned star acknowledged she felt Hollywood appeared uninterested in her and had neglected about her for a while.
I would say the years after Cougar Town, trying to find the right thing and I didn’t feel very relevant at the time. I was focusing on something else. I was focusing on my relationship and didn’t focus as much on business side of things. And I think … out of sight, out of mind. And yeah, I think a lot of it was my fault, but I think also once I wasn’t driven, I think they probably forgot about me for a while.
After a one-time Friends reunion and reprising her legacy presence in the fifth Scream film, Cox’s career has taken off. It’s quite tragic that she thought her star was beginning to fade after years at the top of her game.
Thankfully, the renowned actress is continuing on with her career and currently appears in Shining Vale on Starz, alongside Greg Kinnear and Mira Sorvino, as part of the new horror-comedy. The first three episodes are now available, and Cox’s part has gotten high praise from critics. She’s also expressed a desire to appear in more Scream films, so we have that to look forward to as well!
