With the arrival of James Gunn as co-CEO of DC Studios, fans everywhere have been anxiously waiting to discover what this new era in theDC Universe has in store for them. Already, both Gunn and Peter Safran announced their ambitious plans for Chapter One: Gods and Monsters – but now it looks like we may be getting something even bigger! An Avengers: Endgame level project could potentially be on its way soon if a recent Instagram post from Gunn himself is anything to go by. Get ready – a new age is here!
Gunn and Safran recently declared that many details regarding their slate of projects will remain undisclosed. However, they did announce the first installment in DCU’s Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters lineup – Creature Commandos. This ambitious animated feature is expected to debut in 2025 at the launch of DCU’s Series One chapter!
As fans have begun to speculate and collect evidence about what Gunn is planning for DCU’s projects, it has been revealed that he will not be following through with Snyder’s original plan of Darkseid. Instead, Gunn appears to be adapting Warner Bros.’s Crisis on Infinite Earths project which was inspired by Avengers: Endgame as the direction for the DC Extended Universe.
Recently, James Gunn teased a possible project for DCU that could be like Avengers: Endgame. Paul Scheer tagged the filmmaker in an Instagram story featuring Darwyn Cooke’s comic book, DC: The New Frontier. This hardcover includes a thrilling alternate universe storyline with superheroes uniting worldwide to battle against The Centre.
Scheer posted the image with a caption implying that he was going to check out the comic book again due to Gunn’s announcement. The director reshared Scheer’s post, prompting DC fans to speculate about his next project – though no confirmation from Gunn has been made as of yet. With this latest move, it is clear that something exciting could soon be on its way for all DC enthusiasts!
