‘CONTAINMENT’: HAVE YOU CAUGHT THE FEVER YET?
***WARNING: THE FOLLOWING
MAY INCLUDE
SPOILERS***
Last Tuesday was the premiere
of CW’s
‘Containment’ with
decent ratings (0.6/2 in 18-49, 1.7 million viewers in all)
and so far have
been steady with a slight
increase this week. It is labeled to
be a limited event series
which
basically means that it
can’t necessarily be renewed but it does pull some
potential to continue
for a number of seasons. I know…I
lost you at ‘Last
Tuesday’.
So now that
the CW has jumped on the virus/zombie
outbreak bandwagon, does it
truly have the
potential to infect us all to keep watching? Developed from
the Belgium series
‘Cordon‘ by writer Julie
Plec, the series takes place in the
heart of Atlanta, Ga. where an epidemic of a
deadly strain of Influenza
breaks out and a portion of the city
has to be put
under quarantine. Family, friends and loved ones are separated
in order for the
CDC and
government to try to get a handle on it and hopefully, prevent it from
spreading.
It has all the
basics. Lovers on either side of the quarantine
border, children in danger,
government officials trying to
keep things hush-
hush, a go-to guy putting himself in danger over and over
again, a hero cop, and
just
when they think that they have things under control, the rug is pulled out
from under them. Sound familiar???
Yeah, me too, but no zombies.
Cast
includes David
Gyasi, Chris
Wood (The Vampire Diaries), Kristen
Gutoski, and Claudia
Black.
Most of the cast are
virtually unknown with maybe that exception for Chris Wood,
if you are a
true CW watcher. But, if
it continues as a stand
alone limited event series that
it claims it is, improve
it’s cheese ball-ish acting and doesn’t play out
the whole virus outbreak
concept, I think it will do just fine. I admit that after the first episode
I
wasn’t too sure if I would
continue to watch, so I tunes in for the second and
I must admit, It left me
wanting more.

So will I
turn my television channel
to the CW next Tuesday night at 9
pm? That is a big
YES!!! Will I be infected? We will see. I will keep you a
informed and do a
recap after
episode 3 airs.
Do you think you will catch the
‘Containment”
bug??
