Fans of the AMC series Comic Book Men were shocked when Kevin Smith surprisingly announced the show’s cancellation late last month, however, Smith is working hard to try to find the series a new home.
On Tuesday, Smith responded to a tweeted article praising the series with a beacon of hope that the show might be able to live on elsewhere. Smith tweeted, “Thanks for the kind words about @ComicBookMenAMC! We’re pitching it around to other networks now so I’ll let you know if it comes back to life!”

Television fans have come to learn that just because a show is canceled doesn’t always mean it’s gone forever. There have been numerous examples of canceled series finding new homes such as Arrested Development which found new life at Netflix, Nashville which moved from ABC to CMT, Last Man Standing which is moving from ABC to Fox, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine which is moving from Fox to NBC just to name a few.
In late June, Smith announced the cancellation of the series via Twitter saying that he and the guys held a “Viking funeral” for the newly canceled show on their latest podcast looking back at happier times. He said, “After 96 episodes, the @ComicBookMenAMC are now the Cancelled Book Men. On a new #SModcast, hear Walt, Bry, Ming, Mike & I hold a Viking funeral for our @AMC_TV show and reminisce about the happy highlights of seven seasons!”
Fans immediately responded with a call to arms to save the series. They began calling upon other networks, such as Netflix, Hulu, or Syfy, begging them to pick up the series for additional seasons.
Time will tell if Comic Book Men can find a new home, but we sure hope it does!
