Colony fans anxiously await the announcement of a premiere date for season 3.
While we do not yet have the season 3 premiere date, we do know that Colony season 2 comes to Netflix on January 12th. This gives fans an opportunity to catch up on the latest developments inside and outside the Los Angeles bloc before the new season arrives.
In review
The Colony universe expands in season 2 when Will Bowman (portrayed by Josh Holloway) visits the Santa Monica bloc looking for his son Charlie. We also enter the confines of the labor camp where Bram Bowman is sentenced to work after getting caught outside the bloc.
Characters shift in and out of new positions with Helena climbing the Authority ladder and Alan Snyder (portrayed by Peter Jacobson) being demoted to a command position at the labor camp. Will gets a new boss and a new partner.
We also learn that the Resistance movement is far more nefarious and reaching than just Broussard’s team.
Allegiances are tested and loyalties are questioned. New insights are revealed about the technology associated with the mysterious hosts.
And, of course, everyone is anxious to find out just what that little button is that Snyder activates.
The appeal
Much of what makes USA Network’s Colony so compelling is watching strategies unfold among the characters and not knowing what to expect. Eric Broussard (portrayed by Tory Kittles) and Alan Snyder, in particular, have a history of keeping some of their cards close to the vest. The actions of both in the season 2 finale leave viewers questioning the motivation of these two fan favorites.
The creators have been generous with revealing new intel about the dystopian world of Colony, but not so much that viewers are not always seeking more. Colony fuels an excellent balance of questions and answers.
New for season 3
One of the biggest changes for season 3 is the move of production from Los Angeles to Vancouver. Cast have shared photos of the new location fueling theories about what the Bowmans encounter after leaving the Los Angeles Bloc at the end of season 2.
Also new in season 3 is the addition of leading lady Sarah Wayne Callies to the directorial lineup. Sarah shared on social media that she was directing episode 3.09 of the popular series. It will be exciting to see how Sarah makes her mark behind the camera in addition to her powerful portrayal of Katie Bowman in front of the camera.
The creators also introduced artwork at San Diego Comic Con depicting a mysterious new type of aircraft alongside the familiar drones.
Be sure to catch up on Colony seasons 1 and 2 in preparation for the excitement of the brand new season. Cast and crew are hard at work to bring us more Colony on USA Network. Hopefully, we will find out soon just when that will be!
