Actress Mary Steenburgen, known for her roles in popular films like “Back to the Future Part III,” “Elf,” and “Step Brothers,” recently made a surprising revelation during the promotion of her latest movie, “Book Club: The Next Chapter.”
Steenburgen, along with her co-stars Jane Fonda and Candice Bergen, appeared on the show “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” and participated in a game called “1, 2, Agree or Disagree.” The game involved host Andy Cohen reading out personal statements, and the guests had to express whether they agreed or disagreed with them.
Towards the end of the game, the statement read, “I have never been genuinely turned on while filming a love scene.” While Bergen agreed with the statement, both Steenburgen and Fonda disagreed. Curious to know more, Cohen asked if they were willing to disclose which co-star or film they were referring to. Fortunately, both actresses were forthcoming.
Confidently, Steenburgen replied, “Johnny Depp,” which startled Fonda, prompting her to exclaim, “Oh damn, really?” Steenburgen, who has been married to Ted Danson since 1995, playfully responded with a sly “Yeah.”
Steenburgen had shared the screen with Depp in the 1993 film “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,” which also featured Leonardo DiCaprio and Juliette Lewis.
As for Fonda, her answer pointed to Kris Kristofferson, with whom she starred in the 1981 movie “Rollover.”
“Book Club: The Next Chapter” is the sequel to the 2018 romantic comedy “Book Club.” Starring Steenburgen, Fonda, and Bergen, the film also features Diane Keaton, Andy Garcia, Don Johnson, and Craig T. Nelson. It hit theaters on May 12.
