WARNING: Article contains spoilers from season 5 of Nashville on CMT.
Hey Nashies! We’ve had a pretty rough time lately. First, Nashville was cancelled. Then, it found a new home on CMT! Then, the whole cast returned for the new season but, in a shocking twist of events which no one saw coming, Connie Britton abruptly exited the show leaving us all to grieve the loss of her character Rayna Jaymes.
Perhaps, in the wake of Rayna’s tragic death, comes new life to the series as it was announced earlier this week that two new regulars will be joining the cast.
When the series returns from its mid-season hiatus, we will be welcoming Rachel Bilson (The O.C.) and Kaitlin Doubleday (Empire) to the Nashville family. The show isn’t revealing anything about these new characters just yet but, Bilson and Doubleday have posted some hints via their social medias. Check it out:
Fans of The O.C. are certainly rejoicing since the addition of Bilson also means there may be a mini reunion coming soon. Bilson will be joining current Nashville cast member Chris Carmack in Music City. Carmack played Luke on The O.C. along side Bilson and, he is just as psyched as we are to see this reunion happen on screen!
Showrunner Marshall Herskovitz welcomed these lovely ladies while also teasing some twists and turns in the second half of season 5:
“We welcome Rachel and Kaitlin into our incredibly talented ensemble. We fondly anticipate the second half of the season filled with surprising twists and turns that make Nashville so beloved by the fans.”
No word just yet on a series return date but, we can’t wait to see what happens next!! Check out the teaser preview below. Nashville airs Thursdays at 9pm on CMT.
