It may be only March, but you’re going to want to get into the Christmas spirit for this news!
The first trailer for Illumination’s The Grinch just dropped today, poised to join the ranks of the original 1966 Chuck Jones animated film and Jim Carey’s 2000 live action, and it’s introducing us to a whole new type of Grinch – the Benedict Cumberbatch Grinch.
The trailer kicks off just a few days before Christmas and finds the Grinch and Max headed into town to do Grinchy things.
The film will stay true and follow the same plot as its predecessors. “When the Whos declare they are going to make Christmas three times bigger this year, the Grinch realizes there is only one way for him to gain some peace and quiet: He must steal Christmas.”
The animation style is certainly a facelift for the original film, but it still has that nostalgic feeling and with an updated version of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” the trailer is a surefire way to get you into the Christmas spirit a casual 9 months early! It will be fun to see Cumberbatch’s take on the titular character and he’s certainly got the voice, wit, and personality to pull it off!
The Grinch and all of his Mount Crumpet glory hit theaters this November. Check out the whole trailer below!
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
