With Avengers Endgame close on the horizon, a lot of fans are starting to look forward at what the next chapters of Marvel are looking like. With Spider-Man: Far From Home and Captain Marvel on the calendar, one film that has been highly anticipated yet clouded in controversy is still a giant question mark – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Last July, Guardians franchise director James Gunn was abruptly fired from the third installment by Disney after a series of offensive tweets from nearly ten years ago were uncovered. Despite having apologized for the tweets long before he was hired by Disney, Gunn released another lengthy apology and received droves of support from both the cast and Hollywood in general, yet Disney has remained firm on the firing.
So, now nearly seven months later – where does that leave the third Guardians film? Well, while promoting The Lego Movie 2, star Chris Pratt offered fans a hopeful update about the future of the franchise.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was intended to release sometime in 2020, but since the film currently does not have a new director, the timeline has been pushed back indefinitely. What are your thoughts on the third Guardians movie? Are you still hoping for Disney to reinstate James Gunn or do you just want the franchise to wrap up as soon as possible? Let us know!
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
