Chris Hemsworth would love to do a ‘Crocodile Dundee’ Reboot

A few weeks ago, news broke that there would be a fourth movie installment to the Crocodile Dundee franchise, arriving later this year. The ‘movie’ was to be titled Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home,  starring Danny McBride as Brian, the son of Michael Dundee.

However it was recently discovered that this ‘Dundee’ themed movie was not actually a Hollywood blockbuster in the making, but rather a lead-up to an Australian tourism commercial that aired during Super Bowl 52.

So sadly Dundee will not be hitting the big screen this summer, but Chris Hemsworth, who was McBride’s co-star project for the project, would be open to participating in an actual Crocodile Dundee reboot:

While shooting, Danny McBride and I spoke about if it could be a movie. We started to get worried that if this commercial is as good as we hoped it’s going to be, people are going to be disappointed, we’re going to have to make a movie. But I had so much fun making this commercial, I’d definitely be open to discussions about it.

The Thor: Ragnarok star was initially anxious about how the Dundee Super Bowl ad would be received. After it aired, he found the response to be “incredible,” so he’d be willing to participate in a legitimate Dundee movie if approached.

In an interview with Newsbeat, he talked about how he used to watch the original Crocodile Dundee movies growing up so taking part in a movie would be like a dream come true for him especially if Paul Hogan were to be roped in on the project:

If we could find the right story and script we might do it.

In this Dundee “movie,” Chris Hemsworth played Wally Jr., the son of John Meillon’s Walter Reilly from the original Crocodile Dundee movies who is the head of his father’s outdoor touring company and knows the Land Down Under like the back of his hand.
