Chris Hemsworth is currently enjoying some down time with his family, which fans can expect to last at least six months. He recently spoke about wanting to do simple things like taking his kids to school and being there in a way his busy film schedule has kept him from over the last few years.
This has led to some fans believing that his time as Thor really is over. However, filming for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 has wrapped so even if his reign does continue into the next Avengers film, or we can look forward to another Thor film, we can’t be sure based on his time off right now.
Another thing leading fans to wonder what’s next for Thor is the fact that, contractually, Hemsworth is done playing the character. He confirmed this in a promo interview for his new film, 12 Strong with USA Today.
‘Contractually, right now — yeah, this is it. I’m done. I won’t be playing the character again.’
He went on to say that at one point it seemed almost as if the role would go on forever, and it’s sort of scary that it could be all wrapped up in the very near future.
‘This really seemed like this never-ending thing. And now it’s potentially finishing.’
However, he recently said that Thor: Ragnarok was sort of a new beginning for the character as he feels that he’s been reinvented a couple times now. That new slate has left Hemsworth interested in continuing his reign as Thor, that is if it all works out.
‘If I had the opportunity to do it again, I think I’d love to.’
It’s not something we know more about than that, but the notion that he’d like to continue playing Thor is enough for us right now.
We doubt we’ll hear more about it until we see what his fate is in Avengers: Infinity War. Would you like to see Hemsworth continue his reign as Thor? Let us know.
‘…but I knew him’
