Chris Evans Adopted a Dog while Filming Gifted

Chris Evans is charming. There’s just no better word to describe him. He’s talented and he’s compassionate, he’s funny and he’s still himself – not having let fame get to his head – but his charisma and his charm make him so unique that there’s genuinely not another person like him in the world. He’s unapologetically who he is and in a world where so many people are trying to be so many other things – it’s refreshing to have a celebrity like him to look up to.

Chris is also soft-hearted. You can tell in his day to day life (what he shares with us) and in his film roles. One of his most anticipated roles is in the film Gifted which premieres Friday and while he built some incredible relationships while on set, one of those stands out above the rest.

One of the last scenes we were filming was in a pound, a kennel. I foolishly walked in and I thought, ‘Are these actor dogs or are these real up for adoption dogs?’ And sure enough they were, so I was walking up and down the aisles and saw this one dude and he didn’t belong there. I snagged him, and he’s such a good dog. They aged him at about one; he acts like a puppy, he’s got the energy of a puppy, he’s just such a sweetheart, he’s such a good boy. He loves dogs, he loves kids, he’s full of love.

Chris named his new dog Dodger, and he told People that having the dog is a workout in itself.

Playing with him is exercise – he’s exhausting. He’s up for anything. God – dogs, they’re such great animals. I really can’t say enough about dogs, I’m a dog lunatic. He sleeps on my pillow – you wake up face-to-face.” Chris also stays active, as does his pet. “I keep a very clean dog, I’m a big dog bather, twice a week. We get dirty! We run around, he’s in the mud a lot, so yeah, I think it’s nice having a fresh, clean dog.

Leave it up to Chris Evans to be on the set of a film and to rescue a puppy in the same afternoon. It’s all in a day’s work for the guy who may play Captain America on screen but is a real life superhero too.
