‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ Celebrates Salem the Cat
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina sent their resident feline, Salem some witchy love yesterday to celebrate International Cat Day! Of course, being that all of the Netflix accounts are full of hilarious snark, their photo came in response to Netflix’s post featuring a photo of Prince Louie from The Princess Diaries.

In an homage to Salem’s nail grooming habit from the 90’s sitcom, he his posed with a signature nail file. They captioned the photo “The real legend, opurrr #internationalcatday”. You can check Salem in all of his adorable glory below!
Despite being portrayed as a talking cat with his eyes set on world domination in Melissa Joan Hart’s Sabrina the Teenage Witch series, Salem was just an ordinary, non-speaking cat in the original Archie Comic source material. Over time, his comic book counterpart eventually began to evolve into a much darker version of the character, which seems fairly in line with the dark and angsty tone the upcoming Netflix adaption will have. Thankfully, this Salem looks a lot more realistic than the older one.
Earlier this year executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa gave excited fans their first look at the oh so wise cat. You can check that out below!

Starring Mad Men’s Kiernan Shipka, the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina puts a darker twist on the iconic teenage witch and follows Sabrina Spellman as she struggles to balance being both a half-witch/half-human to protect the ones she loves from the dangers lurking in her town of Glendale. Despite being a spinoff from Riverdale, the two series will not feature any crossover seeing that Sabrina will be premiering on Netflix and Riverdale currently resides at The CW.
In addition to Shipka, the series will also star Ross Lynch as Harvey Finkle, Lucy Davis as Aunt Hilda, Miranda Otto as Aunt Zelda, Jaz Sinclair as Sabrina’s friend Rosalind Walker, and Tati Gabrielle as her rival Prudence. Always one to provide us with the goods (clearly), Aguirre-Sacasa also shared a sneak peek of Sabrina and Harvey looking super adorable walking hand in hand.
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
