Cher Joins ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’

‘Do you believe’ in movie musical miracles?  Well, you better start because it looks like the ultimate dancing queen is heading to the Mamma Mia! sequel! EW confirmed that Cher has officially joined the cast of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, which is the long-awaited sequel to the 2008 film, Mamma Mia!.

While not much is known about her role she did give a few teasers about the news over the weekend on her Twitter account.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again will be Cher’s first time back on screen since Burlesque in 2010. The role will put her back together with her old costar Meryl Streep who she starred in 1983’s Silkwood (below) with and received an Oscar nomination for.

Originally a stage musical, Mamma Mia! was adapted into the 2008 film that starred Meryl Streep as Donna whose must face three men (Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård) from her past at her daughter Sophie’s (Amanda Seyfried) wedding as they all wonder who is the Shophie’s father. The musical, of course, is set to the smash hits from the band ABBA. The film made over $144 million in the US and hopefully, the upcoming sequel will see similar numbers!

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again hits theaters on July 20, 2018.
