Charlie Hunnam Lands Starring Role in Zack Snyder’s ‘Rebel Moon’

At the start of November, it was announced that Sofia Boutella would headline Zack Snyder’s blockbuster Netflix sci-fi, Rebel Moon, but she was the only member of the main cast to be named until very recently.

With rumors that production was about to begin in the next few months, we’re sure to receive a plethora of fresh elements sooner rather than later. After months of speculation and rumors, the reworked Star Wars spinoff has finally arrived, complete with a bevy of familiar faces.

As revealed by Snyder on Twitter, The cast is growing. Actor Charlie Hunnam and actor Djimon Honsou have joined the project, with the former DCU architect returning and joining up with Justice League‘s Ray Fisher and Sucker Punch‘s Jena Malone.

Rebel Moon has also brought on Doona Bae, Staz Naie, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, and Sky Yang.

Snyder may be on the verge of establishing yet another Netflix franchise following the success of his Army of the Dead universe, which is scheduled to continue with a direct sequel Planet of the Dead and an animated series Lost Vegas.

Rebel Moon will film two movies, back-to-back. The “franchise” is created from when Snyder was originally hired to write and direct a Star Wars spin-off movie for Lucasfilm. When things fell apart, Snyder rewrote the script, removing Star Wars characters and lore from the film, and took it to Netflix.
