Chandler Riggs Says He’s “Satisfied” with Carl’s Death on ‘The Walking Dead’

In its eighth season, AMC’s The Walking Dead shook fans to their core with a shocking death which no one saw coming! We are, of course, talking about Carl Grimes (played by Chandler Riggs).

Carl died in the mid-season 8 premiere after suffering a walker bite to his abdomen. His death is a huge departure from the source material graphic novels and has immensely upset fans of the series. Riggs, on the other hand, appears to have made peace with the decision.

At a panel Q&A at Fandemic Tour Sacramento last weekend, Riggs even said that he was ultimately satisfied with how Carl left The Walking Dead world. According to Comicbook.com, when asked if he was happy with the way Carl died, Riggs said:

[row]“I’m going to be honest. When Scott told me how it happened, he didn’t mention the whole ‘Saviors blowing up all of Alexandria’ thing. He just kind of said I went to hide in the sewers and just die. I was like, ‘man, that does not sound cool at all.’”[/row]

Riggs continued to say that it wasn’t until he read the script for the eighth episode (the mid-season finale) that he realized that Carl was really going out in a blaze of glory, literally. Riggs said:

[row]Then, when I read episode eight, and I was like, ‘oh, okay, there are huge explosions, there are solar panels being blown up, churches blown up, houses exploding. I was like, ‘okay, that’s pretty cool, I’m satisfied.’”[/row]

Riggs certainly seems to be doing well since his departure from The Walking Dead. He also revealed that he’s filmed two movies over this past winter, and he’s also living his best life while producing his own music.
