In December, Dion stunned the world when she disclosed her diagnosis of stiff person syndrome, an exceptionally rare autoimmune movement disorder. This condition affects the central nervous system, leading to stiffness and rigidity in various muscle groups over time. Dion emphasized the rarity of the disorder, affecting merely one in a million people.
To ease fans’ concerns, Dion provided information on ticket refunds. Those who purchased tickets for the forty-two canceled dates would receive refunds through their original point of sale. Additionally, she encouraged ticket holders to reach out to their respective points of purchase for further inquiries or alternative options.
Last year, Dion emotionally shared her struggles with mobility and the impact of her condition on her voice in a heartfelt Instagram video. Explaining that spasms caused by the disorder affected her daily life, she detailed the difficulties she faced while walking and singing. The toll on her body prevented her from performing in the way she was accustomed to.
In January 2022, Dion had already canceled the remaining North American tour dates on her “Courage” tour due to severe and persistent muscle spasms that hindered her ability to perform. As a result, rescheduled dates were announced, and summer performances for 2023 were regrettably canceled.
