Celeste Sells 500,000 Copies, Free New Levels Coming In 2019
Celeste, the small indie game that could, just announced that they had sold over 500,000 copies in 2018. Matt Thorson, who created Celeste along with Noel Berry, thanked those who purchased the game via his Twitter. “Thank you everyone who played it,” Thorson said. “We never expected it to reach so many.”
Thorson added in another tweet that, “We’re working on some farewell Celeste levels, which should be ready in early 2019.” And as if the game wasn’t hard enough, Thorson added that the new levels are, “very hard.”
The acclaimed indie developer apparently has more up his sleeve as he ended with, “We’ll be announcing what’s next for us in the New Year. See you in 2019.”
If you haven’t had the chance to play Celeste, you’re in luck! Xbox announced via their website that Celeste will be included in January’s free Games with Gold! If you’re not a member currently, you still have time to sign up to receive the game. Xbox sells one month, three month and 12 month memberships.
Congratulations Celeste on all your success!
