‘The Rise of Skywaker’ Content and ‘Celebration Edition’ Coming to ‘Star Wars: Battlefront II’

Today, EA announced their next wave of content for Star Wars: Battlefront II. These upcoming updates will include character appearances and locations from none other than the highly anticipated movie, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. A location from the movie joining Battlefront II is an unnamed jungle planet that was supposedly seen in the most recent trailer for The Rise of Skywalker. This planet will bring sequel era battles to co op in addition to being featured in the game’s traditional multiplayer! Other sequel era planets that will join the co op mode as well include Starkiller Base, Jakku, and Takodana.

The sequel era’s presence is being increased through different game modes and locations, however, these updates to Battlefront II will also include new hero appearances for Finn, Rey, and Kylo Ren. There will also be new reinforcements added to the game such as Sith Troopers and Jet Troopers for the First Order, and the Gunners and Spies for the Resistance. The new Resistance reinforcements are two new species from The Rise of Skywalker. These new hero appearances, reinforcements, and co op maps will be added to the game on December 17th, while the new jungle location will be added on December 20th. As far as new heroes themselves go, the Resistance’s BB-8, and the First Order’s BB-9E will become playable in January. The multiplayer game mode in Battlefront II known as Capital Supremacy has only been played through Clone Wars era battles so far with heroes such as Anakin Skywalker, while in January, it will then feature two sequel era locations: Jakku and the new jungle planet from The Rise of Skywalker.

In addition to the large amount of content inspired by The Rise Skywalker coming to the game, Battlefront II will also be available in a new digital edition starting tomorrow! This will be called “Celebration Edition.” As can be seen in the tweet below, it will include the base game, more than 25 hero appearances, and lots of other customization items. “Celebration Edition” will go for $39.99, while current owners of Battlefront II will able to upgrade for $24.99.

Battlefront II is a game I really enjoy as a Star Wars fan and I can’t wait to see where this new content takes us! What are you most excited to experience next in the game? Let me know in the comments!
