The Carpool Karaoke segment from The Late Late Show with Jame Corden has become a viral sensation. Some of the hottest musicians and stars have helped Corden find his way to work while singing some tunes along the way but, we can guarantee, you’ve never seen a Carpool Karaoke segment quite like this one.
On Wednesday night, Corden picked up the Foo Fighters on his way to work. The segment started out just like every other Carpool Karaoke clip begins. Group members Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Nate Mendel, Rami Jaffee, William Goldsmith and Franz Stahl totally rocked out with Corden, air drumming and all, to some of the Foo Fighters’ greatest hits including All My Life, Best Of You and Learn To Fly as well as their brand new single The Sky Is A Neighborhood.
During the segment, original band members Grohl and Mendel recall their first time jamming together. Mendel said he was actually playing through a karaoke machine at Grohl’s house to which Grohl responded, “full circle!”
Corden and the band also discussed Grohl’s infamous broken leg tour, how the band originally got started and the complexities of air drumming which led to a friendly challenge amongst the group. As Corden patted himself on the back for awesome air drumming, he proclaimed that he could totally be a drummer despite having no formal training. This piqued the interest of Grohl (one of the best drummers ever) and Hawkins as the group just so happened to drive past a Guitar Center. The van promptly stopped and the group went inside for a drum-off.
Spoiler alert: Corden is NOT a drummer but, he is an awesome singer! After losing miserably to Grohl and Hawkins, the group all came together for an epic jam session playing Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up.
