Malcolm in the Middle Reboot in the Works
Cranston, who played Hal in the original series, made the announcement on Watch What Happens Live on Tuesday. When asked about the odds of a reboot, Cranston said, “I would say that on a scale of 1-10, I’d say an 8 that we’ll do a reunion, movie or show or something.”
The original series ran from 2000 to 2006 and followed the lives of the dysfunctional lower-middle-class Wilkerson family. Frankie Muniz starred as Malcolm, a child prodigy, with Cranston as his father, Hal, and Jane Kaczmarek as his mother, Lois. The show also featured Christopher Kennedy Masterson, Justin Berfield, and Erik Per Sullivan as Malcolm’s brothers, Francis, Reese, and Dewey, respectively.
Malcolm in the Middle was a critical and commercial success, winning several awards, including two Golden Globes and a Peabody Award. The show also earned Cranston three Emmy nominations for his performance as Hal.
Muniz has also been open about his desire for a Malcolm in the Middle reunion. In an interview with Fox News in October 2022, he said, “I would love to know what the family is up to.” He also shared that Cranston was “really into the idea” of a revival.
It is unclear when or if a Malcolm in the Middle reboot will actually happen, but Cranston’s comments suggest that it is a real possibility. Fans of the show will be eager to see if the original cast can recapture the magic of the original series.
Here are some additional details about the reboot:
* Cranston said that he and the other writers are “working on concepts of story, plots and things like that.”
* Muniz said that he would be “down 100 percent” to participate in a reboot.
* The original show’s creator, Linwood Boomer, is also reportedly involved in the reboot.
* It is unclear when or where the reboot would air.
