Captain Marvel star Brie Larson set the internet ablaze on Tuesday night with one simple and yet totally cryptic tweet. Larson shouted out to Entertainment Weekly via Twitter by tweeting, “Hey @EW I’m Bored. Wanna break the internet tomorrow?” EW responded with a time – 12 pm EST. That was all it took for the Marvel fans everywhere to begin freaking out over the possibility of some big Captain Marvel news.

On Wednesday at 12 pm EST on the dot, Entertainment Weekly dropped our very first official look at the upcoming film. The image shows Larson suited up as Captain Marvel on their exclusive magazine cover, and we have to admit, she looks badass!

Check out the EW cover image below and check out even more exclusive images from EW HERE:

Captain Marvel is set in the 1990s and follows Air Force pilot Carol Danvers (played by Larson). When Danvers’ DNA becomes mixed with that of an alien, she becomes one of the most powerful superheroes ever, Captain Marvel.

In addition to Larson, Captain Marvel stars Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg, Lee Pace, Gemma Chan, and Djimon Hounsou. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directed the film which was written by Boden and Fleck as well as Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Liz Flahive, and Carly Mensch.

Marvel has already given fans a little tease of Captain Marvel during a post-credit scene following Avengers: Infinity War. Right before Nick Fury evaporates into dust due to Thanos’ devastating snap, Fury is able to send a desperate signal for help. That signal was sent to none other than Captain Marvel! Having that bit of knowledge under our belts, it’s highly likely that she plays a major role in defeating Thanos in the upcoming Avengers 4 film.

Like everything else with Marvel, however, all details are being kept tightly under wraps, so we’ll have to wait and see how the universe all comes together.

Captain Marvel is set to be released on March 8, 2019.
