‘Black Panther’ Was 2018’s Highest Grossing Film

It seemed the super hero blockbusters just kept rolling in during 2018, but only one took the cake as the highest grossing film of the year. Black Panther is taking home the trophy this year.

Ryan Coogler’s film took home over $700 million domestically in the box office, according to Box Office Mojo.

Erik Davis, the Managing Editor of Fandango tweeted a congratulations to the film when the news broke.

You may be wondering where Avengers: Infinity War fell in the lineup. It was on the heels of Black Panther, bringing in a little over $678 million.

The rest of the year’s box office hits were mainly superhero and sci fi films as well. Next up were Incredibles 2 ($608 million), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ($416 million) and Deadpool 2 ($318 million).
Black Panther will be getting a sequel, which Ryan Coogler will again shoot in 2019. The upcoming year is set to rival 2018, with the upcoming Marvel releases of Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Dark Phoenix. Other films to watch in 2019 are Star Wars: Episode IX, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Detective Pikachu, and Wonder Woman 1984.
Captain Marvel hits theaters March 8, 2019.
