Marvel Studios is passionate to extend the story of Wakanda, its technologically advanced African nation, and its characters beyond Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. To begin this endeavor, Disney Plus will soon roll out a series about Okoye (Danai Gurira) as she transforms into a ‘Midnight Angel’, battles Namor’s forces with great tenacity, and rescues Everett Ross from an arrest that was brought on by his support of Wakanda.

With anticipation building, what could the future hold for Okoye in Disney Plus? When asked by Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet at the Oscars, Danai Gurira had to remain tight-lipped while providing a “vague” update. As always with Marvel Studios projects, juicy details will be revealed as we draw closer to its release date!

“I have been told I can speak of it vaguely so I will vaguely respond. Yes. There’s my response.”

Evidently, the show is underway! When asked if Okoye’s character would be further developed in this project, Gurira chose her words carefully and answered:

“All I’ll say is I can answer one of those questions. However, I guess the answer behind a story like that if one were to exist would be to explore the character in ways we haven’t yet. But who knows?”

It appears that some of Wakanda Forever‘s storylines will be continued in Ironheart, potentially setting up for the Okoye series. However, much about it remains a mystery. Based on all already announced shows, we can anticipate its arrival as part of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 6; hence we are likely to see it sometime by 2025!

We eagerly anticipate any new Wakandan updates, and we are sure that whatever shape it takes will be enormously appreciated.
