‘I never freeze‘ promises T’Challa in the trailer for Black Panther, and the sentiment is standing as a universal truth for the movie as a whole. The film is setting the standard and then surpassing it from it’s plot and characters to its box office sales.
In fact, Black Panther is on track to become the top-selling superhero film ever, which is a title that currently belongs to Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice which set the record with a box opening of $166 million. The film has already surpassed Captain America: Civil War for Marvel’s fastest-selling film on Fandango.
Black Panther is also the number 1 ticket seller on Fandango, and as we all know, the film won’t hit theaters for two weeks. While the excitement was sure to continue building in the days leading up to the film, it’s world premiere really sparked the interest of those who may have been on the fence about buying tickets now.
The reviews were incredible, those in the theater cried, laughed, and watched the world of Wakanda come to life in the most astonishing way. It’s more than just a film, it’s becoming a phenomenon.
Deadline reports that a recent poll from Fandango asked fans what they were most excited about in terms of Marvel Studios’ Black Panther. The responses are as follows.
With over 1,000 moviegoers, 97% are most excited about a ‘different kind of superhero movie’ and 95% are looking forward to the positivity built within the film’s message. 86% are looking forward to Wakanda’s all-female warriors, the Dora Milaje and, like us, 84% are excited to see Michael B. Jordan take on the role of Erik Killmonger.
Black Panther hits theaters on February 16th.
