The cast for Legendary’s upcoming Detective Pikachu movie is starting to take place. On Tuesday, it was announced that Love Actually star Bill Nighy and You’re the Worst star Chris Geere will be joining the production.
Late last year, it was announced that Ryan Reynolds signed on to play the titular character alongside Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) and Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies).
The basic plot of the film starts off with Smith’s character’s father being kidnapped. The teen then sets out on a mission to find his father and enlists the help of a young journalist (Newton) and Pikachu (Reynolds). This particular Pikachu just so happens to be great at finding things and takes on the role of lead detective in the kidnapping case.
Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) has signed on to direct and write the script along with Nicole Perlman. The film reportedly began production this week!
