Fans of Beauty and the Beast poured into theaters across the country on Thursday to be the first to see the live-action remake of the Disney classic. The movie, one of the most anticipated of 2017, has been the talk of the entertainment industry for months. From it’s all-star cast to the filming locations and even the costume – the film stayed true to the classic and, in some ways, gave it new life.
The numbers have started rolling in and Beauty and the Beast brought earned $16.3 million with its ‘preview screenings’ Thursday. The Hollywood Reporter also reported these statistics, showing just how big of an impact the film had within the hours before it’s ‘official’ date of release.
‘That domestic preview tally is the biggest of the year, the biggest ever for a Disney live-action title, the second biggest ever for a PG film and the third biggest ever in March.’
The cast of Beauty and the Beast includes Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast. In addition, Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Stanley Tucci, and Emma Thompson play roles of the beloved characters that bring the Beast’s castle to life.
It’s been said that the film is expected to bring in 120 million in the US and 245 million worldwide by the end of this weekend.
