Batwoman, Gotham City, Added to Next CW DC Crossover Event

The CW Upfronts wrapped up Thursday, but not after a few big announcements for the network, which hosts several DC superhero shows.

Stephen Amell teased to fans last weekend, that he would be announcing something big at the event, and he did! Along with the CW President Mark Pedowitz, he revealed that this year’s Fall Crossover event will include Batwoman for the first time ever.

We’re incredibly excited to announce that we’ll be doing another crossover event this fall on the CW, and we’ll be introducing a new character. For the very first time appearing, we’ll be fighting alongside Batwoman, which is terrific. The crossover is going to make it to air in December. I need to leave right now and start filming it.”

Pedowitz added:

This is the first time ever that Batwoman makes a live-action appearance on any screen.

There have been a couple references to Bruce Wayne on Arrow, so fans have lightly speculated this may come in some fashion. Now, it’s official! The City of Gotham is now officially part of the DC Universe that The CW explores.

Earlier this week, FOX renewed it’s Gotham starring David Mazouz as young Bruce Wayne, for it’s fifth and final season. Additionally, Epix has landed a Gotham inspired series called Pennyworth. Bruno Heller will head up the 10-episode order for this DC show based entirely on Bruce Wayne’s butler, Alfred Pennyworth. It’s being called more of a prequel to Gotham, while not entirely connected, and is set in the DC comic universe.

When one door closes for Batman, another opens.

The annual CW crossover event includes Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow and this year it will air three parts, three nights in a row.

In the meantime, check out Thursday’s season 6 finale of Arrow on The CW.
