Batgirl: Set Photos Reveal the Return of Batman’s Vicki Vale

HBO MAX’s Batgirl is currently filming in Glasgow, and images from the set are causing a stir. Graffiti of Michael Keaton’s Batman, a masked version of Robin, Hugo Strange, and what appears to be a veiled allusion to Nightwing have all been observed. In addition, magazine props from the Batman v Superman and Lex Luthor’s DCEU destiny can be found in a newsstand.

More photos have emerged. The first is a piece in Gotham Life magazine that examines Vicki Vale, the long-term love interest of Batman. Take a look:

It’s strange that this is referred to as a “retrospective” of her work, since it features Kim Basinger’s performance as the character seen in Batman ’89. This is strange because Batgirl takes place in the DCEU rather than the Burtonverse, but there’s no reason why Vicki Vale from the DCEU

The second new magazine, on the other hand, is nearly impossible to comprehend. The Court of Owls is one of the most interesting elements to Batman lore in years: a centuries-old secret society that has been corrupting Gotham for decades. These publications, in my opinion, were designed by a committed set/prop designer and do not correspond to what’s going on in the DCEU. Whoever is responsible for them is clearly a huge Batman fan, as each of them is jam-packed with minute specifics only true diehards would care about. If they’re even visible in the film.
