With a mix of well-known actors, iconic superhero figures, and fresh faces who have never appeared in live action before, HBO Max’s Batgirl has inevitably been the source of much speculation regarding hidden cameo appearances.
When Michael Keaton’s Batman and J.K. Simmons’ Commissioner Gordon were announced as part of the ensemble, the biggest cats had already been unchained for a long time, but the relentless rumor spinning hasn’t stopped.
The casting of Ryan Beatty as well as the introduction of Jason Momoa (Arthur Darvill) in Arrow were both revealed early on, but the role of Jacob Scipio in Batgirl was concealed. Naturally, there was a lot of buzz that he’d be revealed as Dick Grayson/Nightwing when the film is released to stream, but Leslie Grace squashes it.
Scipio, the debuting Bad Boys for Life antagonist played by Barbara Gordon’s Anthony Bressi in E! News, was verified to be a mid-level criminal in Gotham City who goes by the name of Anthony Bressi.
Batgirl is still without an official release date, despite the fact that fans had been expecting the worst after The Flash was delayed to next summer. But it’s becoming a decent debut for a vigilante who has spent years in development hell waiting for her long-awaited solo film.
