Yo Ho Ho!
Pass the rum! Today, September 19 is International Talk like a Pirate Day!
So grab your fellow buccaneers, eye patches, peg legs and practice your “pirate-ese.”
And help you out, here are some rules:
– Don’t be afraid to threaten people: Being a pirate was dangerous work, they needed to be tough.-Use me instead of my and ye instead of you. Pirates were known to have bad grammar.
– Use nautical phrases: They spent most of their time on boats.
– And of course, don’t forget to slur your words: Rum was a staple for pirates.
For some extra help, click on over here for some pirate phrases and lingo.
And to figure out what pirate-y shenanigans is going on in your area, sail on over here for a map that will tell you!
Oh! Krispy Kreme will give you a free glazed donut if you dress up like a pirate! And Long John Silvers will give you a free piece of Alaskan Whitefish or chicken for customers who talk like a pirate, and a free 2 piece fish or chicken basket for those who dress like one.
How will you be celebrating
