On the heels of the exciting announcement that Arrow had received a seventh season renewal, even more big news has come out of the world of Oliver Queen – Arrow’s getting a new showrunner! Arrowverse captain Marc Guggenheim will be stepping down as showrunner after this season to take on an executive consultant role for season 7 and taking his place will be longtime Arrow writer Beth Schwartz.
Schwartz has been a part of the series since season 1 where she started as a writer’s assistant and over the years worked her way up to a co-executive producer this past season.
“We are all so incredibly thrilled to announce Beth Schwartz as the new showrunner of Arrow. She has been a source of some of the show’s most exciting and memorable moments from the beginning. Beth is a true leader and a captivating storyteller, and we all can’t wait for the audience to see what she and her team dream up as they take Arrow into its next big chapter,” series co-creator Greg Berlanti said in a statement.
With Guggenheim as an executive consultant (the new role also expands to Legends of Tomorrow) and Schwartz now at the helm, season 7 of Arrow is shaping up to be an exciting one! What do you think of the new changes?

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
