‘Aquaman’ Trailer is Set to Debut at San Diego Comic-Con

If, like me, you’ve been waiting (and waiting, and waiting) to catch a glimpse at the highly-anticipated Jason Momoa Aquaman film, rest assured we won’t have to wait much longer! It was officially announced on Friday that a trailer for the upcoming film will make its long-awaited debut next month during San Diego Comic-Con 2018.

Fans (yours truly included) have been eagerly awaiting the release of an official trailer from the film, and we were teased a little bit earlier this week. News broke out of CineEurope that a trailer should be expected to be released within the week. As Friday rolled around, fans were left scratching their heads at the absence of any kind of major announcement. Cue director James Wan.

Wan made the official announcement at 5 pm EST via his social media pages that the trailer will debut at SDCC in July. In addition to announcing the trailer date, Wan also released a snazzy new logo for the film.

Wan’s announcement comes just days after Entertainment Weekly released several incredible first look photos as well as some killer magazine covers featuring Momoa and the cast of the film.

After his first appearance in 2016’s Batman V. Superman, Jason Momoa reprises his role as Arthur Curry (aka. Aquaman, half-human, half-Atlantean and King of the Seven Seas, ruler of Atlantis). The film also stars Amber Heard (as Mera), Patrick Wilson (as the villainous Orm/Ocean Master), Temuera Morrison (as Tom Curry), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (as Black Manta), Nicole Kidman (as Queen Atlanna), Dolph Lundgren (as King Nereus) and Oscar-nominee Willem Dafoe (as Nuidis Vulko).

Aquaman is directed by James Wan, best known for his work on The Conjuring and Insidious films. This is Wan’s first dip into the superhero world. He also directed Furious 7 which ended up being the top grossing film of the Fast and Furious franchise. Peter Safran is producing along with Zack and Deborah Snyder, Rob Cowan, Jon Berg and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers.

The trailer will be released during San Diego Comic-Con which runs from July 19th – 22nd. Aquaman will officially splash down into theaters on December 21, 2018.
