‘Aquaman’ Sequel Officially in the Works with Original Co-Writer

Are you ready for more Aquaman? The film’s sequel just took a major step forward and is now officially in the works.

On Monday, news broke that the sequel had officially found a writer for the script. According to Deadline, David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick will officially be penning the Aquaman sequel. Johnson-McGoldrick is a frequent collaborator with director James Wan and co-wrote the first film along with Will Beal.

The Jason Momoa-led first film surpassed the $1 billion mark topping the studio’s previous record with The Dark Knight RisesAquaman claimed it’s crown atop DC’s earnings list and also became Warner Bros. third biggest movie ever globally.

There seems to be a bright future ahead for a possible Aquaman franchise as earlier this week, it was announced that a spin-off film was also in the works based on the monstrous sea creature, The Trench. Now that the sequel film has found its writer, you can expect to see a whole lot more of Aquaman in the future of DC.

Aquaman stars Jason Momoa in the titular role along with Amber Heard (as Mera), Patrick Wilson (as the villainous Orm/Ocean Master), Temuera Morrison (as Tom Curry), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (as Black Manta), Nicole Kidman (as Queen Atlanna), Dolph Lundgren (as King Nereus) and Oscar-nominee Willem Dafoe (as Nuidis Vulko).

Wan directs with Peter Safran producing along with Zack and Deborah Snyder, Rob Cowan, Jon Berg and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers.
