Black Manta has finally arrived!
Deadline reports that The Get Down‘s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has landed the role of the Aquaman villain. At the same time the news broke, it was reported that the legendary Nicole Kidman may be in early negotiations to play Atlanna, Aquaman’s mother and queen of Atlantis. Kidman is no stranger to the DC Universe, having played Dr. Chase Meridian in Batman Forever. The actress is currently on the awards circuit, most recently earning an Oscar nomination for her role in Lion alongside Dev Patel.
Aquaman features a stellar cast with Jason Momoa playing the titular role, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm, and Willem Dafoe as Vulko. The film is scheduled for a summer 2018 release.
