‘Ant-Man’ Star Paul Rudd Remembers ‘Friends’ Finale As ‘Strange,’ Admits ‘I Shouldn’t Be Here’

In retrospect, Paul Rudd remarked that he was “surprised” to have been included in the final episode of TV’s iconic sitcom “Friends,” confessing his belief that he really shouldn’t have.

“It was really fun and they were great,” Rudd said of the “Friends” cast while appearing on the “Heart Breakfast” show with JK and Kelly Brook. “The whole thing was a bit surreal … to be a part of that.”

“I never knew that I was going to be in as many [episodes] that I was,” Rudd explained.

“But it also felt strange. I was in that last episode and I just thought … ‘I shouldn’t be here … I’m getting like a front row seat to things I’m not supposed to see.'”

At the tail-end of his ten-season stint, Paul Rudd expressed gratitude to JK for suggesting Mike saved Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow). “You’re very kind to say that,” he gratefully responded.

 

From the ninth through tenth season of “Friends,” Paul Rudd was featured in the show as Phoebe’s love-interest and eventually third husband. He made a total of 17 appearances across those two seasons.

Speaking of the final episode, Rudd said of the cast, “They were all crying, it was all emotional. And I just was like, ‘Woah’ … I felt very privileged, but I also was like ‘Uh – I just want to sit back here and not get in the way.'”

Although Rudd felt somewhat disconnected towards the finale, he nonetheless comprehends how influential his show has been on a global scale.

“‘There’s something comforting about it, isn’t there?” he agreed with host JK.

“In the States you can always kind of flip around on some channel – you’re gonna find it,” he told the British radio hosts.

The Marvel star, Paul Rudd, who is set to appear in the upcoming “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” chose not to partake in HBO’s 2021 reunion special of “Friends.”

When asked if he was part of the Whatsapp group with his co-stars, Rudd chuckled and said, “If there is one, I didn’t get an invite!”
