Venom 2 has found its director. Serkis is ready to step back into Marvel’s world and take on the Symbiote from behind the camera.
Serkis, who directed Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, shared the news via his Instagram account:
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Serkis flew to Los Angeles in late July to meet with Sony and was actually one of several filmmakers up for the job.
Kelly Marcel has written the script for the sequel. However, with Serkis joining the team, it is only a matter of time before we receive more information concerning the sequel, whether it’s the cast and crew or the actual story. It’s a waiting game now.
Interestingly, Serkis previously worked with Woody Harrelson in War for the Planet of the Apes. Considering the post credit scene in Venom, I wouldn’t be surprised if this sequel focused fully on the war between Venom and Carnage.
